MUTUAL AID FIRE IN TUSCARORA

Station 8 was dispatched to a mutual aid structure fire on Stead School Road in Tuscarora this afternoon. Engine 8-3 with a crew of 5 and Squad 8-18 with a crew of 3 both responded. Units were staged and manpower was sent to the scene to assist with overhaul. The thermal imager was used to find hotspots and the crews checked the area for additional fire. Station 8 units remained on scene to help pickup hose before returning to quarters.

HURRICANE WINDS WITH TREES DOWN

Station 8 was dispatched early this morning for the report of a tree in the roadway on Heater Hill Road in Lawrence Township. Firefighters Jeremiah Burrows, C.J. Groves, and E.J. Pondo were pulling an overnight shift at the station because of Hurricane Sandy moving through the area. The three responded in Patrol 8-4 to handle the situation while others stood by. At approximately 0500 hours, the crew was back out again checking a pole number for 911 and came across additional trees in the roadway. The crew continued the standby throught the AM hours.

VEHICLE FIRE WITH EXPOSURE

The Lawrenceville Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire with an exposure on Buckwheat Hollow Road in Lawrence Township. Engine 8-3 with 5 and Engine 8-2 with 2 responded. Engine 8-3 arrived and reported a working vehicle fire with a partial building involvement and requested a tanker from Station 7 (Tioga). A hand line was stretched and the fire was knocked while the building was checked for extension. Units remained on scene until clearing at 1339 hours.

ROLLOVER MVC IN LINDLEY

Station 8 was alerted this morning with Lindley FD for the report of a vehicle rollover on Clendenning Creek Road near the intersection of Stowell Hill -Road in Lindley, NY. Engine 8-2, Squad 8-18, and Ambulance 8-7 all responded. Chief 26-02 (Johnson) arrived and requested Station 8 recalled. All units cleared at 0115 hours. 

CAR/BEAR CRASH

Stations 8, 7 (Tioga), & Lindley FD were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Route 15 south bound in Lawrence Township. Chief 8 (Strange), Engine 8-2, Squad 8-18, Patrol 8-4, & Ambulance 8-7 all responded. C8 arrived and reported a single vehicle struck a bear with no injuries. Station 7 fire units and Lindley FD were recalled. Units remained on scene to assist PSP and Ken's Autobody with the tow. The scene was cleared at 0122 hours.

AUTO FIRE ALARM AT BOX 8-11

Station 8 was alerted to an auto fire alarm at 42 Main Street in Lawrenceville Borough. Engine 8-3 with a crew of 5, Chief 8 (Strange), and Chief 8-60 (Button) all responded. C8 arrived and reported burnt food in apartment 2 and requested that E8-3 preform ventilation. E8-3 setup the fan and cleared the room of smoke. All units cleared the scene at 1343 hours.

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK ACTIVITIES

Members from Station 8 this week visited several educational facilities and daycares to provide fire safety and prevention demonstrations. Members presented to groups from R.B. Walter Elementary, CUMC Daycare, Tioga-Bradford Head Start, and Ransoms Daycare.

MVC IN LINDLEY - RECALLED

Station 8 was called to assist Lindley FD this morning at a single vehicle MVC with possibly one injury. Engine 8-2 with a crew of 3 responded. Enroute, Lindley Command reported negative entrapment and requested a recall. E8-2 returned to quarters at 0956 hours.

ASSIST HELO AT SOUTH OVERLOOK

Station 8 was dispatched this afternoon just as the open house was coming to a close to assist LifeNet 7-7 and Valley Ambulance at the South Overlook LZ. Engine 8-3, Patrol 8-4, and Squad 8-18 all responded. Units arrived and established the LZ. Shortly after, Wellsboro ALS went on scene with Valley Ambulance and requested a cancellation of the helicopter.

LFD OPEN HOUSE

Today the Lawrenceville Fire Department kicked off fire prevention week by opening the doors and provided demonstrations for the community. Various events took place including extrication demonstrations, EMS checking blood pressure and providing training information, and a live fire extinguisher setup. A free CPR signup was offered as well as hotdogs for all. Thanks for all who came out to visit and to all who helped.

VEHICLE CRASH - NOTHING FOUND

Station 8 was alerted for a motorcycle crash this evening on Route 287 in Lawrence Township. Engine 8-2 with 3, Chief 8-60, and Chief 8-70 all responded. Units checked the area and were unable to find a crash. Station 8 was then recalled. Additional details found the crash to be a motorcycle/deer crash on Route 287 in Tioga Township with no injuries.
